Étienne-Jules Marey
invented a variety of devices with which he was
able to capture various animal movements on film,
including the "photographic gun" and
what could be considered the first motion-picture
camera. |
Eadweard Muybridge
developed a system of cameras and trip wires that
allowed him to prove that all four of a horse's
legs leave the ground when drawn together under
the body. He then invented the zoopraxicope,
the predecessor to the motion picture projector. |
