Gemini 12

November 11-16, 1966

Crew

Jim Lovell
Buzz Aldrin

Mission Highlights

Docked with Agena 12 during the third orbit.

During his two EVA's (totalling 5 hours 37 minutes), Aldrin was able to attach a tether, plug and unplug sockets, and loosen and tighten bolts, and much more, without experiencing the difficulties encountered by Gordon during the Gemini 11 mission. This was due to engineers having provided him with handholds and footholds and attachable "window-washer" belts, and by scheduling frequent rests.

The Gemini and Agena craft also spent some time flying together in formation while linked by a 100-foot tether.

Aldrin carries a miscrometeoroid package during one of his "spacewalks."
