Georgius Agricola
authored what is considered the first book on
physical geology, the first textbook on
mineralogy, and one of the most comprehensive
treatises on every aspect of metallurgy and
mining ever published. |
Henry Bessemer
invented embossed stamps, a method of embossing
velvet with elaborate patterns, a machine for
pressing sugar cane, a mortar shell, and more.
But he is best known for inventing a better
method of converting iron to steel, a method that
has now been in use for over 150 years. |
