The Eads Bridge,
at St. Louis, Missouri, was the
first major bridge over the Mississippi River,
the first rail bridge over the Mississippi, and
the world's first steel-truss bridge. Completed
in 1874, it still carries light rail, automobile
and pedestrian traffic today. |
The Ambassador
Bridge spans the Detroit River and
connects Detroit, Michigan, with Windsor,
Ontario, Canada. It is currently the largest
international border crossing in North America,
carrying more than 25 percent of all merchandise
trade between the United States and Canada. |

course of his career, as well as the world-famous
Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. |
