How Big Are Birds' Eggs?

An ostrich egg, left, is about 6 inches (1.5 centimeters) long and weighs about 3 pounds (1.4 kilograms). A chicken egg, center, is about 2-3/8 inches (6 centimeters) long and weighs about 2 ounces (57 grams). A hummingbird egg, right, is barely 1/2 inch long and weighs less than 1/50 of an ounce (0.6 grams).
