William
Tell was the
hero of the Swiss movement for independence from
the Austrian Habsburgs in the 13th century. He is
best known for shooting an apple off his son's
head with a crossbow arrow, and is the National
Hero of Switzerland (despite there being no
historical evidence of his existence). |
