During World War II he was forced into exile, but continued to enjoy the support of his subjects. General InformationGeneral Information Oslo is the capital and largest city of Norway. The city proper covers an area of 175 square miles, and has a population of 544,073. According to the Norse sagas, Oslo was founded around 1049 by King Harald III.
