The Crusades, An
Overview The Crusades
were Christian military expditions to recapture
the Holy Land from the Muslims. They began
shortly before A.D. 1100 and lasted into the
1400's. Christians were aroused to organize the
Crusades primarily by religious faith, but the
expeditions were also part of the larger effort
by Europeans to increase their powers, territory,
and riches. |
