The Eiffel
Tower is a huge
wrought-iron skeleton tower on the Champ de Mars
in Paris. Originally commissioned as the
signature feature of the 1889 Universal
Exposition, a celebration of the centenary of the
French Revolution, it is today the most popular
tourist attraction in Paris. |
The
Leaning Tower of Pisa
is the popular name for what is
actually the campanile (bell tower) of
the Piazza del Duomo (Cathedral Square)
in Pisa, Italy. Officially known as the Torre
Pendente di Pisa, it gets its popular name
from the fact that it leans about sixteen feet
(5.5 degrees) from the vertical. |
