The Only Private Home the Eisenhowers Ever Owned

the Eisenhower home at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

The Eisenhowers' eight years in the White House was the longest time they had lived in one place. In 1950, they bought a 100-year-old, 500-acre farm in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. It was the first (and only) permanent home they ever owned. The photo above was taken in 1956.
