Congress passed the Sherman
Antitrust Act during Harrison's administration,
and provided for the building of a two-ocean navy
of steel ships. The American frontier disappeared
as pioneers took over the last unsettled areas of
the West. Six new states joined the Union. |
Benjamin Harrison: A Chronology
of His Life and Career Benjamin Harrison's grandfather was
William Henry Harrison, the hero of the Battle of
Tippecanoe. Both Harrisons ran for the presidency
two times, winning once and losing once. Before
being elected President, both had been successful
army commanders and had served in the United
