llamaThe Llama was domesticated by the Incas about 4,500 years ago as beasts of burden, for their wool, and as a food source. Today they are raised primarily as novelty pets, and to a limited degree for their wool and as protectors of sheep and goat herds.
SalukiThe Saluki is one of the oldest dog breeds known to man, appearing in Egyptian tomb paintings dating from 2100 BC. It probably originated with the Bedouins, who used the breed to hunt gazelle and other animals.
Homing PigeonThe Homing Pigeon is a special breed of pigeon developed for racing and carrying messages. They can be easily trained to return to their home loft when released from a distant place. This homing ability has been greatly increased by selective breeding.
